I did that…
Graduate…
I had always wanted to go on and do something to do with graphics, even from a young age – just never knew what. During a summer course once at the local art college I ending up doing a 1 week technical illustration program, which I really enjoyed. I did think about going on to do that was believed it was a dying art as computers were becoming more dominant in the illustration field, especially technical illustration. So as I had always enjoyed “graphic design” I decided to something that fell under that umbrella, and ended up doing a Communications degree at Wolverhampton. After the 3 year course I cam away with a 2:1 in a joint Advertising and 3D graphics degree. I have now gone down the advertising route as a career.
Creative Design Awards …
Awarded a ‘Certificate of Merit’ for my execution of a Rio Soft Drink advert. The aim was to stimulate summer sales by creating a ‘fun’ orientated ad showing some form of ‘rapid injection’ of enjoyment. Targeted at 15-28 year olds. Proposition: “It’s 5,741 miles away from any other drink.
Fly a plane…
one birthday present later and I had flown a light aircraft above Bournemouth, over to the IOW and back again. Plus a lovely landing at the end of it.
Solo Parachute jump…
and after another birthday present I had managed to throw myself out of a perfectly good plane. We spent the first half of the day learning how to control the chute and to break off from a tangle chute to release the back-up one with a “twist, pull and punch”. In the afternoon we went up but only 2 of us managed to jump and the weather was closing in. The next day was mine turn, for the first few seconds of dropping to the earth I did black out, but luckily it’s a static line jump (a cord is attached to the plane from the chute, like you see in old war films when the clip themselves on before jumping) and I was soon brough around by the chute opening. After about 5 minutes, I had a tippy toe landing and was back down in one piece.

Start a business…
In November 2000 The MAD Agency was started, doors opened at the beginning of 2001 and I was involved for over 8 years, we had also set up various sister companies MAD PR & MAD Wraps. Over those years I had learnt plenty about running a company and how not to run a company – as they say you learn from your mistakes. We even managed to do some work for the Top Gear tv programme and where invited to the recording of the show and with our back stage pass managed to watch Terry go around in the reasonably priced car.
Go freelance …
In June 2008 I left The MAD Agency and freelanced for a few months.
Start a business take two…
Then was approached by an ex-employee to setup in business together. Which is were I find myself today – running my company called CuCo Creative.
